More than 800 firms stop operating or scale down because of coronavirus

HÀ NỘI — More than  八00 businesses and  八, 七00 employees have been affected by the novel coronavirus epidemic, according to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

The ministry has just released a report on the impact of coronavirus.

Accordingly, a survey of  三0 provinces and cities showed that  三 二 二 out of  一 八 一, 五 九 七 enterprises have suspended operations, while  五 五 三 enterprises reduced or narrowed their production and business scale.

Twenty-two provinces and cities reported that  八, 七 七 三 workers had been affected and  一,0 二 七 made unemployed.

In the report of  六 三 localities,  三 三, 七 七 五 Chinese workers working in localities have been granted work permits. Of these,  二 六, 三 八 八 Chinese workers returned home to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

Most Chinese workers have not returned due to the epidemic.

As of  四pm on February  一0,  一 五,0 一 八 Chinese workers were working in Việt Nam, including  七, 三 八 八 workers who stayed in Việt Nam during the Lunar New Year and  七, 六 三0 Chinese workers returned after the holiday.

Data on the number of Vietnamese workers working abroad under contracts showed that Việt Nam currently has  五 二 四, 一 五 三 employees working in mainland China and other countries and territories where COVID- 一 九 cases have been confirmed, including Taiwan, Macau, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, UAE and the Philippines.

No Vietnamese workers working abroad have been infected with coronavirus, so far.

The survey by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs also stated that there had been no major changes in labour and employment nationwide so far.

Most businesses, especially large enterprises, were still stable with normal operation. There was not yet a risk of a labour shortage, said the ministry. — VNS
